Home Page

From the Home Page, you can quickly access Forms, Documents, Certifications, Specifications, Calculations, Abbreviations, and much more — all designed to support your First Article Inspection process.

The big blue FAI Assistant icon at the top of the Home Page serves two purposes:

• Help Access: Tapping it displays short help text explaining each buttons purpose. In the upper left of every screen in FAI Assistant is a help icon, tapping it will give you detailed instructions.
• Quick Company Notes: Long-pressing this main icon lets you add a note under the Company Note category. You can also create and review Company Notes anytime from the View Notes section.

At the top left in the app bar is what's called a Drawer Menu, it's also been called a 'Hamburger menu'. After tapping it you will see 3 menu choices:

• About: Displays the version number, date, and some general information about FAI Assistant. It also contains a link to the faiassistant.com website.
• Add 24 Sample Notes: This will give you the option to add 24 notes (4 for each category). This way you can experiment with them and get to know all the possible ways in which to use Notes within FAI Assistant. More about Notes can be found in the Notes help section.
• Delete All Notes: This will not only delete the 24 sample notes but all notes, so be sure to back up any notes you would like to keep. Backup help can be obtain by its help text.

At the top right in the app bar is the 3-Dot menu. Tapping it will bring up the Load AS9102 PDF menu. this gives you the capability to load your purchased as9102.pdf file from SAE. More about that in its help section.

ASK AI Functionality

This is the AI Answer screen. Throughout FAI Assistant, you’ll notice Ask AI options wherever there is important informational text to elaborate on.

• Powered by Gemini and ChatGPT AI: Tapping the ASK AI button now brings up explanations generated by either Gemini or ChatGPT, two of today’s most advanced AI systems. Having both engines means you get the best of both worlds — Gemini’s precision and clarity combined with ChatGPT’s depth and versatility. And because both AIs keep improving, each update brings clearer, smarter, and more helpful answers. Every time you tap Ask AI, you’re drawing on the latest intelligence from two leading platforms — making your FAI reviews faster and more insightful than ever. Even better, you get to choose which AI you prefer. From the three-dot menu on the Home screen, you can easily switch between Gemini and ChatGPT at any time. Trying both can be surprisingly useful — each AI explains topics a little differently, offering new wording, insights, or examples you might not have seen before. Switching back and forth can deepen your understanding of FAI concepts and help you see your work from fresh, complementary perspectives.

• Copy/Paste AI Output: You can save the Ask AI output by long-pressing its text. Then you can input it into a Note category for later retrieval.

When you first tap Ask AI, you’ll see a progress circle. This simply means your request is being sent securely to the internet, and the AI is working on your response. Depending on the complexity of the question and the speed of your internet connection, it may take a few moments — so please be patient while it generates your answer.

A great way to use this feature is by saving the AI’s explanation directly into your Notes. From there, you can edit, refine, or expand the text however you like, making it your own personalized guidance for future reference.

Scrollable Fields

This is a Form / Fields page that contains all of the Fields of Form 3 in a scrollable format (Forms 1 and 2 are similar but with different amounts of Fields). Tapping one of these will take you to the Fields Detail page. Be sure to tap the help icon once you get there in order to familarize yourself with all of its features.

These Form and Field descriptions are the heart beat of FAI Assistant. They coincide directly with the AS9102 Rev. C specification.

Navigating through this page allows you to quickly see the entire scope of Form 3 without flipping through multiple documents or printed forms. Each field is clearly labeled and organized so that nothing gets overlooked. The scrollable format ensures you can move efficiently through the list and select only the areas that apply to your part or inspection.

When you tap on a field, you’re taken directly to the Field Detail page, where you’ll find more than just a text box. The detail view provides guidance, context, and other options to help standardize your input. This makes data entry faster, more consistent, and less prone to mistakes compared to manually filling out forms.

These field buttons also act as a learning tool for new users. If you’re not yet deeply familiar with Form 3 or the AS9102 specification, you can explore each field at your own pace. By combining the official descriptions with FAI Assistant’s structured interface, you gain both understanding and confidence in completing First Article Inspections.

Finally, the scrollable fields page serves as the foundation for generating accurate, professional reports. Every selection and note you enter here flows directly into the review, backup, and export features of FAI Assistant. In other words, the time you spend here ensures that downstream steps—whether producing a PDF, TXT, or sharing data—are smooth, consistent, and compliant.
